Below you can find details of the course provided for using ICT with SEN children at Sir Robert Hitcham's Primary School

Aim:

To introduce some new useful software that could be used in the teaching of SEN children.

Course duration:

Half day

Method:

There will be a morning and an afternoon presentation in the SLAMnet computer suite in Sir Robert Hitcham’s Primary School in the Summer Term 2001. Places are limited to one teacher from each school. A contribution of £50 will be given towards the cost of supply teachers on completion of a short course evaluation form. Each school attending will be provided FREE with a one-user license of IEP Writer; a program which allows teachers to write IEPs and PEPs quickly and easily. The price for IEP Writer will be paid for from the Beacon budget. Two other pieces of software will also be demonstrated: Text Help Type and Talk, a predictive writing program, and Handwriting for Windows, a program that allows you to create handwriting worksheets in any school’s selected handwriting style effortlessly.

First Session

9.30 – 9.45 arrival and tea/coffee

9.45 – 10.15 Welcome – Writing IEPs and PEPs

10.15 – 11.15 Using IEP Writer Software and hands-on session

11.15 – 11.45 Demonstration of Text Help Type & Talk and Handwriting for Windows

Second Session

1.00 – 1.15 arrival and tea/coffee

1.15 – 1.45 Welcome – Writing IEPs and PEPs

1.45 – 2.45 Using IEP Writer Software and hands-on session

2.45 – 3.15 Demonstration of Text Help Type & Talk and Handwriting for Windows

Christine Kingsnorth, who is an advisory teacher for learning support, will lead the course. She will be addressing the implications of IEP writing under the new code of practice.
