We saw a television program about a family in St. Lucia called the Harveys. Mr. Harvey works as a refrigerator engineer. He has a helper called Edward. He works mostly at hotels and restaurants. He doesn't have much leisure time because he gets called out at weekends.
Mrs.
Harvey has opened a shop selling spare parts for refrigerators. She thought business would be good, but it isn't. When
Mrs. Harvey goes shopping she used to go shopping at an open market but it is now a covered market. Now she goes to a supermarket up the road. Lots of products are from different countries like America and England.
In the Harvey family there are four children, three are still at home and one has left home to go and study in Trinidad. Gimmel is 13 years old and goes to secondary school he is the first to be dropped off. His school starts at 8:00.
15 year old Thia goes to Castries comprehensive secondary school. She learns Spanish and other languages but .she doesn't like school lunches.
Evvery has left school and now works in the local travel agents. She is 17 and she wants to go to college in Canada. Hayle is 21 she has left home to go to Trinidad. Evvery hates cooking but she helps her mum when people come round for dinner. They are Catholics and they pray before they eat by holding hands. The children's hobbies are basketball and watching
TV. Their mum thinks they should read more instead of watching TV.
Tikey is the family cat and she likes to stay in the kitchen. Schmuck is the family dog and he likes to play with Gimmel when he plays basket ball.
