Siddur means 'order' and is the name given to a Jewish prayer book which records the order of the set prayers of the various services. Jews have set prayers to say at home and in the synagogue. The basic form of Jewish prayer is the 'blessing' which gives thanks to God on many occasions through the day, beginning with the words, 'Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe.' Orthodox Jews pray three set services in Hebrew a day: morning, afternoon and evening. The Authorised Daily Prayer book contains these services.
