The National Cycle Network

Some people say that all the traffic on the road is a problem for the earth.  If we use bicycles more there won't be as much pollution so it will be better for the earth.

The National Cycle Network is a network of paths and roads across the country.  A group of people (Sustrans) are making more cycle paths for the millennium so that it is safer for cyclists.

Another group of people (The Millennium Commission) have given the National Cycle Network some money and most of it is going to be spent on off-road construction. They are trying to make it so people don't have to get rid of their bikes.

In Edinburgh there are special cycle paths so that when there are bikes on it cars can not cross the path.

Part of the National Cycle Network runs through Framlingham.  It is called the Suffolk Coastal Route.

Here is a map of the United Kingdom with all the National Cycle routes  marked in.  Click the link to find out more information about Sustrans and the National Cycle Route.
