This is a farthingale which Tudor women wore.
It was used to make their dress stick out.

A girl from class CL dressed up in some rich Tudor clothes. In the Tudors times shepherds and woodcutters normally wore comfy clothes.     

The is a doublet that the men used to wear.

This is the complete men's outfit. The cloak over his arm is to protect the arm which holds the sword. The children wore the same style of clothes  as the parents.   Gentlemen wore padded breeches or trunks, which became so enormous that it was difficult to sit down.
