On the way back to England , Sir Francis drake sailed further up the coast of south America and raided Spanish
ports in Chile and Peru. His richest prize was the
Spanish treasure ship the Cacafuego, which was carrying
gold and silver.

During his voyage, which had lasted 3 years, he had
robbed many Spanish ships of their gold and left their ships sinking and crew drowning. He took the gold back to England and gave it Queen Elizabeth 1st and knighted him and gave him  £10,000.
