far better Queen than Mary. Elizabeth later developed smallpox and became seriously ill, and she knew that the deadly disease could kill her easily. She was horrified when spots came through as she loved to be beautiful. Amazingly she recovered with hardly any scars, but the few scars there were left she covered with thick white make up. Sadly one of Elizabeth's maids caught the smallpox of her and was badly scared for life and never went outside again.
