Halmer End village started as a small hamlet at the edge of the parish of Audley. As the village grew it spread into the next parish, an area now known as Alsager Bank. The view shown here are taken from old postcards of the area. Click the title to see an enlargement of the view.

This view shows the corner of High Street and Station Road about 1914. The building on the left is the original School building of Sir Thomas Boughey. The school was opened in 1849. The building was used until the early 80s when it was demolished.

Methodist Chapels were very popular in the area. This chapel was built in 1875 by the Wesleyan Methodists. Next door was the village store.
