Religion played an important part in the lives of the people of the Audley area. Non-conformist influences were strong. These photographs show just some of the buildings that once were very numerous across the area

Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, Audley. (img0039) The chapel and school to the left in the picture are now demolished. The chapel was opened in 1876 to replace the chapel opened in 1811 (the school building to the left). Demolished to make room for extensions to Ravensmead School 1986

St James Church Audley. The missing pinnacle on the church tower suggests that this was taken before 1896. A church has occupied this site since 1223. (img0001)
