High Quality Skills In Modern Information Technology Are Vital For Our Future
Governors have invested heavily in computer technology giving us some of the best facilities in the area.

The school is networked throughout and uses the latest Pentium PCs to provide opportunities to the highest level.

Computer Services

Our Computer Services Department provides high quality Computer access across the school site. Some features of this are

Ability for pupils to log onto their own workspace anywhere in school
Access to Internet throughout school using our fast ISDN link
A school information service (intranet) offering a wide variety of study materials and pages for pupils to use as part of their study
Virtual CD giving users access to a wide variety of information based CD throughout school.
Video Conferencing facilities
A very high computer to pupil ratio (one computer to eight pupils if the whole school used it at the same time!)
Our own technician trained to ensure our facilities meet our exacting needs.
All those extras we now assume are essential, digital cameras, scanners, laser printers, graph plotters
Our library has its own Open Learning Centre where pupils can use PCs to improve their skills and knowledge.

Our Curriculum

Our pupils study IT each year at school. The course covers most aspects of modern computer usage from Text processing, Database work and Spreadsheets to Control Technology and Electronic.

All pupils at Key Stage Three will study for RSA Text Processing by the end of Year 9.

In addition we insist all pupils take GCSE IT at Key Stage 4. Currently over 50% are gaining a grade C or above!

Essential skills for our country's future.

There are also many other opportunities. Some of our pupils take RSA Internet Technology training them to build web pages use internet. (Our youngest was aged 11!) There are a wide variety of clubs including one that shows pupils how to program for themselves.

The provision of high quality skills in Information Technology is one of our main aims as it provides our youngsters with the ability to access their future.
