Advanced Level English
At Advanced level you study both language and literature. The course covers writers from the Middle Ages to the present day, and writers of English from other countries. We study the press and the media generally, looking at different affairs and topical issues. You can do as much background reading and research as you want, and you can pursue special interests in writers and themes. The more you put in, the more you're likely to get out.
Almost everyone needs some kind of qualification in English, especially if they want to take courses in Higher and Further Education. If you want to go to University to study English you'll need an A Level pass; and some professions, like journalism, want people with A Level English.
