GCSE Mathematics

All students in year 10 and 11 at Sir Wilfrid Martineau School are required to study mathematics.

Mathematics is an important form of communication. A good knowledge of the subject and competence in handling numbers are increasingly sought after by employers.

Students are able to work at a pace which is best suited to their needs. The topics studied in mathematics are not confined purely to math's lessons - they are applicable in other subject areas.

The assessment is based on a written examination and coursework. The coursework element is compulsory and will be developed throughout years 10 and 11. This gives the opportunity to investigate in depth particular areas that interest you.
