GNVQ Science - Intermediate
This is a new modular course which is based on what scientists and engineers actually done in their jobs. The course should normally be completed within one year.
In order to get the full GNVQ in Science 9 units must be completed. These include:
Four mandatory units
- Work in Science tasks
- Exploring materials
- Making useful products
- Controlling systems
Two optional units
Two of the following:
- Transport by air and sea
- Food production
- Health & Fitness
- Science for presentation and performance
Three Core Skills Units
- Communication
- Numeracy
- IT
Students on this course "learn by doing" through a wide variety of activities. Each student builds up a portfolio of evidence showing that they have mastered all the parts of each unit.
GNVQ Science can lead to A levels and GNVQ Advanced Science or directly into science related occupations.
