Topcliffe Simile Poems

The group helped Mrs. Morgan to write a poem about a hedgehog.

They looked at the hedgehog and thought of ways to describe it (similes).

The descriptions were written down as lines of a poem.

We then cut up the lines and rearranged them, to improve the poem.

Hedgehog

Brown as a tree trunk
Eyes small as beads
Round as a rugby ball
Sharp as a shark's tooth
They have fleas
Toe nails sharp as a thorn bush
Spiky as a knife
Ugly as a spider
Eats worms and slugs and insects

By Topcliffe, Year 4, Group 1

Ducks

Beaks yellow as the sun
Swim like a speedboat
Colourful as a rainbow
Fluffy as a pillow

Lynx

Grey as a shark
As lively as a fox
As fluffy as a rabbit

Otter

As furry as a hedgehog
As small as a dot
It's as black as a spider

Horse

Black as a blackboard
White as a piece of paper
A tail long and swishy
