VIDEOCONFERENCE
AT THE
SCIENCE MUSEUM|
My name is Cathryn, and on the 12/2/98 around 3pm, me and three friends, Virgilda, Habiba and Laura left school to go the Science Museum. When we got there we got brought to a room and there we took part in a videoconference. We linked up with some children in America. After a few minutes the screen went blank and it took a long time to link back up. When we did, as we were talking it was like the children in America were here in England and we had known them for years. But time passed quickly and it had finished. |

We took a taxi with Sarah Davis (a teacher). When we got there, we were taken into a big room with a TV and microphones, we were going to try and get through to America. But when we finally did get through all we saw were chairs and coats on the backs and a teacher. He said that they had all gone out to an assembly! It was good fun, and afterwards we got T-shirts and badges. Laura |

I spoke to some children from America about the sort of things they did in their school. It was really interesting and exciting to find out about their way of life in school. It was also good because we could actually see them and look around their classroom and they could see us as well. |

We found out that they didn't want to wear uniforms because they said it was boring to wear the same thing every day. We also found out that they say Math instead of Maths. Virgilda |

It was exciting talking to the children on the TV screen because I have never done that before. It was very interesting to find out about their school. I learnt that people spray on their school gates and they showed a photo of it. When we finished we got a T-shirt and a badge. After a few weeks we got another T-shirt. Habiba |
