The Lighthouse Keeper
by Kyle
The waves crashed onto the beach. Gemma saw the lighthouse. It’s bright yellow light lighting up the rocks.
She climbed into the small brown rowing boat and began rowing to the lighthouse.
Gemma carried on rowing. She was scared. She did not want to fall out of the boat into the black cold water.
She looked towards the lighthouse and sighed. It was still a long way from the boat. Gemma kept rowing
She had to see her dad to tell him what she had just found out
She had to see her dad to tell him that there was a ghost in the lighthouse.
She rowed on. Finally she reached the rocks. She slowly climbed out of the boat and tied it onto the rocks. She walked to the wooden door of the lighthouse.
She slowly opened it and called out "Dad, come downstairs. I need to tell you something quickly."
She heard footsteps coming down the winding staircase
Gemma waited until her dad was downstairs. Dad stood facing Gemma.
"What’s the matter ?" he asked
"There’s a ghost at the top" she replied
"Don’t be a wimp" Dad laughed. Gemma felt shocked. Dad had never said THAT before. She only wanted to tell him about the old lighthouse keeper who had been thrown off the top of the lighthouse. She only wanted to tell him that the ghost was not nice and would do anything to drive people away.
Gemma began to cry. She sobbed as her hands covered her eyes.
