Newsletter – Wednesday 4th December 2002

Dear Parents/Carers,

It is really good to be back and a big thankyou to all the staff, particularly Miss Low, who have taken on extra responsibilities and work while I have been away.

It is a wonderful time to return to Southwold on the ‘run-up’ to Christmas. Next week we have our Christmas Performances, at 2pm and 6pm on Tuesday 10th December and 2pm on Wednesday 11th December. Tickets will be on sale for all performances at 9.00 am and 3.25pm every day until the performance day. Tickets are 50p each, children 25p and a Family ticket for £1.00 (two adults and two children – not a family of 7!!)

Fire and Health & Safety regulations are very strict these days and for the first time we have had to apply for a licence to hold our concerts!! Please understand that I have only 100 tickets for each performance and these will be sold on a first come first served basis.

At this time of year we ask your support to bring your children to the evening performance. It is very important for all children to be there and involved with their class. Would you kindly ensure your child(ren) are returned to their classroom at 5.45pm . You will need to arrange for them to be collected from their classroom after the performance. Please do make sure you are prompt as last year a couple of children were left a fairly long time after everyone (except staff) had left the building and they were quite upset.

Uniform
I have noticed an increasing number of children around school not coming to school in uniform. Please do support us by providing school colours for your children. I believe that when children look smart, they feel smart – they ‘act smart’! Visitors always comment very favourably about how wonderful our children look and behave!

Lates
Since I have been back I have noticed how many children are arriving late in school. Today over twenty children were late. I know many of you send your children to school in plenty of time – would you please insist they come straight to school! I also know a few parents have to battle through horrendous traffic. If children are late they must still use their own classroom door. If they knock on the door someone will let them in. If the class is in the hall then use the main entrance.

Cars in the driveway
May I please remind parents that because of health and safety regulations you are not allowed in school grounds to drop off and collect children.

When the Homezone project is completed there will be a designated ‘drop-off’ point for drivers bringing children to school.

Yours sincerely,

Kay Price
