Newsletter Friday, 8th March 2002

Dear Parents/Carers,

It has been a particularly busy last couple of weeks with many of our
pupils involved in basketball, tennis matches, art and dram, road safety
quiz and of course last week thirty children, accompanied by Mr
Widdowson, Miss Low and Miss Wimpenny went to Kingswood Activity Centre
in Norfolk. It was a hugely enjoyable experience for the children and
every last one of them has had tales to tell this week!! The staff were
very pleased with their behaviour and their ability to ‘have a go’. May
I thank Mr Widdowson, Miss Low and Miss Wimpenny for giving up their
weekend to make the trip possible. A big thank you to parents for
supporting the visit so well by attending meetings, making phone calls
and a fair bit of waiting around!!

Easter Merit Assembly and Easter Bonnet Parade

May I remind parents that there has been a
change of day for this event. It was originally scheduled
for Thursday, 21st March. This has now been put back
one day to Friday, 22nd March at 10.30 am. The staff will
be presenting prizes and trophies for excellent progress
and behaviour in each class and nursery. Would all last
term’s trophy winners please return them to school.

After our Easter Assembly there will follow our usual Easter Bonnet
Parade. Please do try to help your child to make a bonnet – the more
fantastic the better. If you need help with some materials please see
your child’s class teacher.

New parents’ meeting
We will be holding our New Parents’ Meeting next Thursday, 14th March at
11am.

Class Arrangements after Easter
After Easter we will have the largest school roll in many years,
certainly since I have been here (6 years!!). This reflects the growing
popularity of our school. As you are aware there are legal requirements
of school not to exceed infant class size by thirty. To comply with this
requirement we will have to ‘roll up’ a number of children to different
classes at the beginning of next term. The staff and I will be making
final adjustments early next week and we will share our decisions with
you and the children at the end of next week. The children moving to new
classes will be able to visit their new classes during the last week of
term.

After School Incident Tuesday 5th March
I know many of you parents witnessed this incident last Tuesday and I
would like to thank all those parents and children who made statements to
me. You have my assurance that the matter is being dealt with.

Nursery Sale
As Thursday 14th March is World Book Day, the Nursery children are asked
to wear their pyjamas to school and to pay 50p.

The nursery is also holding one of its very popular sales to raise money
to buy Nursery Equipment. Please do come and support the staff and
children next Thursday, 14th March at 3pm.

Please note that the Nursery will close on that day at 3pm.

Study Club – Year 6
Please note next Thursday’s scheduled study club will now take place this
