Dear Parents and Carers,
I am pleased to say that the children continue to work very hard to produce some excellent work. The childrens reading is steadily improving with the extra help we receive from parents and volunteers and with reading at home.
The childrens behaviour has also been very good; our playtime team (with red caps) are doing a great job helping children to sort out any problems at playtimes.
Wednesday After School Club: for Classes 2, 3 and 4, was launched last week and according to the children it was a great success. The club has new rules, children who want to join must have a registration form. Some parents have asked about their children joining. The club is open only to classes 4, 3, and 2 (years 4 6) presently and we cannot yet extend it owing to rules about health and safety and the numbers of children and play-leaders.
If we want the club to continue we have to keep to these rules. I will let you know if we are able to expand.
Chess Club started this week, a Wednesday lunchtime club for Year 6, run by Mrs Holder. She already has a waiting list!
Foundation Sale raised a staggering £180 many thanks to Jan and Hayley Chambers for their superb organisation and donation of raffle prizes, and to all our parents who sent cakes and toys etc for the sale.
Dr. Barnados is the focus of this terms fundraise. Mrs Barnes gave a brilliant talk about the work of Dr. Barnados at a whole school assembly and a drama session for Year 6. She has given us a wonderful bear called Bertie as a prize in our childrens draw on December 6th. The children will bring home an envelope today. If you are able to give a donation, please send it in the envelope and your child will receive a certificate/sticker and an entry in the school draw. Dr. Barnados will be grateful for any donations, every bit counts.
Photographs The class photographs you have ordered have arrived and have been
given to your childs class teacher. We will let you know when the individual/family
ones arrive. The delay is not the schools fault we are doing our
best to get your photos as soon as possible.
School Inspector Our new Inspector came in last week to discuss the Schools work. He looked at each years results and targets for 2002 2003. He is very pleased with the work so far and looks forward to working with us to advise and support us in his new role.
Congratulations to Briony Nolan in Class 2 for her achievement in having her poem (written whilst in Class 3 in year 5) published nationally in the Times Educational Supplement. It was great to see her name in the press alongside the school name.
Christmas at Whitepost Farm May I remind parents of Class 6 and Rainbows children about this trip and to ask if they could pay for their child as soon as possible ( £6.80).
