'We looked at bags from other countries. An embroided one from India. An embroided one from China. A metal one from Morocco. And some others. We looked at some that used some leather, snakeskin and crocodile. They were very interesting and we passed them around the class to look at and to feel the fabric' |

'We had fun making the bag but it was hard work. The great thing is, we have learnt lots of new skills. We know what a pattern looks like, and we need one of these, so that we can cut the bags the right size and shape. Our pattern was made out of fabric. We did some fantastic cross stitches with a needle. We held our fabric together with pins. But best of all we used an electric sewing machine. |

'Kate and Mrs. Stonier helped us to make a bag out of fabric. We had a big bag of fabric in school, so we had lots to choose from. We had been learning about the Victorians who had patchwork covers for their beds, so we decided to make a Patchwork bag. Kat showed us a bag that she had made for another school' |
