What was Guys punishment ? His punishment was being stretched on a rack. They tied his hands and feet then they stretched him. After they hanged him, to make the punishment last, they loosened the rope around his neck and cut him open, pulled out his insides, and burnt them in front of him while he was still alive. Then they quartered him by cutting his body into four pieces. How many barrels of gunpowder were used ? 36 barrels were put into the cellar beneath the Houses of Parliament. Who sits on top of bonfires ? Guy Fawkes sits on top of the bonfire to celebrate the fact that he failed to kill the King. What do children shout when they carry their 'guy' down the street ? Children go round saying 'penny for the guy' to earn a bit of money for their mums and dads to buy fireworks. |
