Welcome to the Design Technology Department.

The department have forged links with Liverpool Community College to deliver
some CAD/CAM technology in Key Stage 4. The Resistant Materials groups
visit the college at Riversdale in the summer term to access their CAD suite
and also have "hands on" experience with the mechatronics set-up.

The same groups are also involved in a project called "Merseyside
Initiative for Technological Skills", which sees the pupils working towards
NVQ level 1 in "working with others", as well as GCSE.
Using circuit boards obtained fron the Technology Enhancement Programme, the
groups are designing and making an FM radio, working very much as real life
design teams.

We also acknowledge our link with Joloda International in Garston. The
company, which specialises in loading technology, sponsor our lower band
pupils in Year 10, offering prizes for each unit of work that the group do.
We are hoping to extend these links, to include some mentoring and work
experience placements.

For more information on the department, contact Ken Fullelove or Chris
Moulton at the school e-mail address.

Members of the Food Technology department are co-ordinating a scheme which
leads towards a Liverpool Healthy School Award. This is a major new
initiative in developing effective health education in Liverpool schools.
It focusses on:

Management of health and health related issues
Physical and social environment
Food and nutrition
Health related exercise
Substance use and mis-use
Sexual health
Child protection
Mental health and well-being

The Food department will deliver the food and nutrition section.

If anyone has any information relevant to the above issues, please contact
Jane Littler at the school e-mail address.
