Sketching the Abbey ruins.

Phase four visit Bury St Edmunds!

On Wednesday 10th October 2001, classes 1,2,3 and 4 visited Bury St Edmunds.

We mainly wanted to go to the Manor House Museum, as part of of project on 19th Century life. But we also took the opportunity to visit the ruins of Bury Abbey, which are very interesting.

Some of us also managed to fit in a visit to St James' church, which is now an Anglican Cathedral.

We were very impressed with the museum, who coped very well with 120 of us taking it over for the day. We were very pleased when they said we were one of the best behaved schools they've had.

We also had the added excitement of a fire alarm going off!

The Abbey ruins are a haunting, ancient place, set in the middle of a park. It was good fun exploring them.

Below, you can see photographs of our day in Bury, and also some of the work we produced about Victorian toys.
