Sir Roger Manwood's School

Headteacher: Christopher Morgan MA

The Curriculum

The School follows the National Curriculum. Pupils take the full range of subjects in their first three years, including French and German. Teaching takes place in form-groups most of the time, but smaller units are created for Science, Technology, Art and Games and P.E.

After three years pupils choose their GCSE courses and are entered for nine and a half or ten subjects at the end of Year 11.

In the Sixth Form students take four, occasionally five 'AS' levels in the Lower Sixth.

In the Upper Sixth they pursue four, sometimes five 'A' levels including General Studies and also take the Key Skills Qualification.

Careers teaching is time-tabled within the Personal and Social Education programme, and form-tutors are heavily involved in careers advice at every level, including the preparation of Higher Education references.

The Pastoral System

Pastoral care is provided through Form Tutors and Year Heads. There are also two senior staff who have Student Welfare as part of their duties.

A structured Personal and Social Education programme operates in all years. Sixth Formers are encouraged to help in a number of areas with Junior classes and a 'buddying' system operates in Years 7 and 8.
