The Parents Social Committee is a group of parents and teachers connected with St Thomas More School that raise money for the extra facilities for the school. The committee exists to encourage parental involvement in all aspects in the life of the school community.
The P.S.C meets on a monthly basis in the school staff room for about an hour to discuss past events and to plan and organise future events. Any parent with a child in the school is welcome to join the P.S.C, attend the meetings and get involved in fund raising events. We always welcome new ideas and inspiration.
The P.S.C raises money for the school through a series of events plus merchandise organised throughout the school calendar year. The money raised by the PSC has funded many worthwhile projects over the years that St Thomas More School would otherwise be unable to afford.
These include items such as, the shelter outside the reception entrance, art and craft materials, library books, interactive white boards, as well as contributing towards the many school trips available to the children.
The main events organised by the P.S.C include:
School Discos – four discos per year, including a fancy dress Halloween event.
Summer & Christmas Fair – The two largest money raising events, including a variety of stalls, entertainment and activities
Christmas Shopping Night – An opportunity to purchase select, local quality gifts and produce in the run up to Christmas.
Bags to school – Unwanted clothes and soft toys can be donated and turned into cash through recycling.
Quiz Night – A social gathering of parents and friends for a fun (and competitive!) quiz
Merchandise – Including calendar, tea towels and a cookery book.
We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting
Kind regards
Sue Fawkes – Chairperson of the P.S.C.
