“Ahggg.  It’s a spider. Kill it kill it,” screamed Zoe.

“It’s just a spider it’s not going to hurt you is it,” Oliver explained.

“Can you shut up and hurry up? We have to get to the clearing other wise we’ll  never be able to set up camp,” ordered Luke.

Luke, Oliver, Zoe and Jo were going into the woods to camp for the night.

“Is it me or has the wood just become darker and spookier?” asked Joe.

“I think that you are right Jo it has become darker,” Oliver replied.

At that moment the wind picked up and it rattled the trees.  This made them look like they had scary faces carved into them.  There was a deathly silence that was suddenly broken by the ‘twit to twoo’ of an owl.

“Lets go home I really don’t like this,” moaned Zoe.

“We are almost there now so lets not give up yet,” Luke said high in spirit.

As he did this there was a crackle of laughter in the distance.  After that a mist came upon the campers like an eagle upon his prey.  They were in darkness with the icy cool mist whooshing past them. Then from nowhere two men appeared wearing robes.  They had hoods on so the campers could not see their faces. Certain enough the men whacked the campers around the head and dragged them off.

When they woke they were in a dam, dirty, smelly place.  With only a single candle for light.

“I really hate this, I told you we should have gone home,” said Zoe with a hint of fear in her voice.

“I wasn’t to know this was going to happen was I?” Luke said.

Although Luke looked perfectly calm her was petrified.  His mind was rushing wondering whether he would ever see his mum again.  As for Jo and Oliver they were huddled together in the corner.  They were both thinking whether or not they would get out of this place alive.

“Look over here there is a hole,” Luke said excitedly.

“Come on then lets go through it,” Zoe ordered.

All four campers climbed through the hole into a clear white passage way.  The atmosphere was tense with curiosity.  They slowly walked forward.

After about twenty paces the children came to an opening.  It was beautiful. There was a silver pool of water right in the centre of this place.  Surrounding it were lots of exotic plants and trees the campers had never seen before.  The air was filled with the cry of birds.  One of the birds flew down onto Luke’s shoulder. It was like a parrot with a blue quiff on it’s head.

“Wow! This place is truly spectacular,” Jo whispered in amazement.  The others were too busy admiring the beauty of the place to listen to what she was saying.

“Look at those beautiful flowers over there,” Zoe said.

“This is truly magnificent place, but I am sure if we crossed that pool of water we could get back to the woods,” Luke said.

“OK fine we will do what Luke says and swim across the pool of water,” Jo said sarcastically.

“Actually lets do what Luke said.  I think he might be right,” agreed Oliver.

The campers slid into the water, and started to glide across.  There was a whooshing sound.  A huge spinning whirl pool swallowed the campers. They spun round for ages when suddenly slosh they were gone.  No one could find them.  They spent ages looking for them, but never came close to discovering what really happened.  Or the place they were at.
