SCHOOL COUNCIL

We have a school council, which meets roughly once a month. We discuss issues raised by the children or staff and try to decide on a fair and appropriate course of action. Each member of the council volunteered to stand for their class and carry forward any issues or items to the meeting. We have new elections every term to re-elect members or select new ones.

Play Time

There are lots of things to do at playtime. It’s our favourite time of day!!
We have stilts for two. There are ropes to hold on to for one person in front and one in the back. They are made of wood. There are two pairs of these stilts.
2d bowling is a new game that we have, it’s like bowling but we have discs that are flat. You put the white one down and then you throw the coloured ones on top. The aim of the game is to throw the discs to see who gets the closest to the white. There are eight discs altogether.
Big hand tennis is the same as tennis, but instead there is an elastic strap to put your hand into a sticky bat. There is a sponge ball as well.
We now have pogo sticks to play with in the playground. We used to have 4, but one of them fell apart. We put our names down if we want a turn. You wait until Mrs Dunbar, our playground helper, tells you it’s your turn. You are allowed on for 3 minutes. Some people are good at it, but others aren’t so good. The pogo sticks are popular so you sometimes don’t get a turn.
Our favourite game though is football. We have a rota to make sure that everyone gets a turn on the football pitch.

School Teams
In our school we have a points system. Each child when they start school is allocated a team. We have four teams in school –
• Strathbeg is the RED team. The leader of Strathbeg is Mrs Cassie.
• Mormond is the blue team. The leader of Mormond is Mrs A. Buchan.
• Rattray is the yellow team. The leader of Rattray is Mrs Mutch.
• Tillyduff is the green team. The leader of Tillyduff is Mrs N. Buchan.
Each child works hard to earn points for their team and on Sports Day we have a special sports trophy for the team that wins. We can earn points through good behaviour and hard work!
Every year we appoint a Captain and Vice Captain for each team from Primary 6/7. It is up to these people to set an example in both behaviour and hard work!!!
