HISTORY OF ST COMBS SCHOOL!!

 

The very first school was built in the 1830’s and is to be found still at the top of Church Street. In 1876 the pupils were marched in procession, headed by the flute band, to the new school seen above.

This is a picture taken of the school in 1972. As you can see it has undergone a few changes since 1876.

This picture was drawn when we were refurbished in 1994 and a new extension was added. All the children were evacuated to the Community Hall while the work was taking place. It was an experience!!! We were very proud of our new school when it was finished.

In 1995 we had an official opening to mark our Schools refurbishment and lots of really important people were invited. There was a councillor and the Director of Education, along with Head Teachers from other schools.

It was a very important event in our schools history. We put together a concert to celebrate the opening. Here is the review we received from the Evening Express, printed here by their kind permission –
