School Admissions Policy
St. David's Church in Wales Primary School is a voluntary aided, co-educational day school and one of its foremost aims is to provide a Christian education in accordance with the rites, ceremonies and doctrines of the Church in Wales.

Children are admitted in September during the academic year of their fifth birthday (the academic year runs from 1st September to 31st August). The standard intake number for pupils entering the Reception class in any given September is 18.

All applications will be viewed with regard to the criteria listed below (in order of priority) and favourable consideration will be given to families who are practising communicants of the Church in Wales.

Parents who wish their child to attend St. David’s for the first time in September in the school's Reception class will need to complete an admission form declaring their intent to take up a place in that class. This also applies to the parents of those children in criteria categories 1 and 2. If places are available once the forms of intent from parents in criteria 1 and 2 have been received in the school by a given date, the criteria 3 and 4 will apply and children in those categories will be placed on a waiting list in order of applications received. Parents will be notified as soon as possible of availability of places.

Criteria Categories:

1. Children living within the ecclesiastical parishes of Llandow, Colwinston and Llysworney.

2. Children with brothers or sisters already attending St. David's school.

3. Children living outside the ecclesiastical parishes of Llandow, Colwinston and Llysworney but residing within the Vale of Glamorgan County Borough Council

4. Children residing outside the Vale of Glamorgan County Borough Council

(Admission forms are available from the Head teacher.)

Appeals Procedure
Parents who are no offered a place for their child have the right to appeal to an independent appeal committee under the Education Acts. Parents wishing to appeal should complete the appeal form attached to the letter regarding their child's non admittance. The form should be sent to reach the Clerk to the Appeal Committee, care of the school, within 14 days of the date of notification of the decision. Should some appeals be unsuccessful, the Governing Body will not consider further applications from those parents within the same academic year unless there have been significant and material changes in their circumstances.
