(based on JK Rowling’s interview on "Blue Peter" last Monday)

J.K. Rowling is the writer that has captured the imagination of a child, for she is the author of six books, (four Harry Potter books and 2 others – Qudditch through the ages and Fantastic Beasts – and Where do you find them?)

So, let’s get down to it –

Question number one:

What inspires you to write these greaaaaat books?

These, particular great books, ‘Qudditch through the ages and Fantastic beasts’ and ‘Where to find them’, were as I say two of the novels mentioned in the actual Harry Potter Books which I had great interest in and besides, I had a lot of this material ready and I had never used it in a novel before. I thought this would be my chance.

Question number two:

Where do you get all the fantastic names to put in the Harry Potter novels?

I collect peoples’ names, so if you have an unusual name, watch out because you might end up in a novel! But I make lots of them up, my main source is maps. I use maps a lot of the time.

Question number three:

Do some of the beasts appear in your dreams sometimes and give you nightmares?

No. They haven’t yet and I don’t think they will but, I myself, am like Ron because I too am afraid of spiders, so the Chamber of Secrets would be the one I fear most.

Question number four:

If you could choose a house to play for in Qudditch, what would it be and what position would you like to play?

I’d play for Gryffindor of course and I’d like to be seeker but I am completely uncoordinated and not sporty, so I probably won’t be allowed near, let alone, on a broomstick!

Question number five:

Is Qudditch based on a muggle game, or is it just made up?

It’s completely new. It’s made up. I just thought it would be fun to have more than one ball in play. The Americans say it’s like soccer in the U.S.A. but it is my idea.

Question number six:

What happened to Fluffy?

Well, basically anything that is dangerous is released to the forest, so that’s where fluffy is now, roaming the forest.

Question number seven:

What accent is Hagrid supposed to speak?

West Country where I come from.

Question number eight:

If you were starting all over again, would you change anything?

Yes, you never read your own book and I think why did I say it like that, but yes loads of things - small things, never big things.

Question number nine:

When Harry leaves Hogwarts, will he return as a teacher?

How do you know I’m not going to kill him off in book 7? No. I’m not telling you. I know what’s going to happen to all of them after Hogwarts, the ones who are going to survive what’s coming.

Question number ten:

What would a magic red nose be like?

It would fly, a little snitch would be cool, yeah, it flies onto your nose.

Question number eleven:

Are you finished Book 5 yet?

No, I’m sorry – no not yet but nearly!
