NEWS AND EVENTS
At St Peter’s we feel privileged to work in a beautiful old Victorian building – however, the maintenance of the building is hugely problematic, costly and time consuming. In addition we are a long way from our Infant feeder school. The Headteachers at both St Mary’s CEVC Infant School and St Peter’s CEVC Junior School are both highly supportive of the plan for amalgamation and a brand new purpose built school on the land behind the Infant School. This is an incredibly exciting time in both schools’ lives and all the pupils, staff and governors are very involved in shaping this new school. The timetable is as follows:
Architects consultation with pupils Architect presentation to St Peter’s and St Mary’s Governors Public consultation Invitations to Town Councillors, parents and friends of both schools, public invited to consultation meetings
February 2009
Architects meet with all staff from both schools for an on site visit and discussions of concepts.
May 2009
June 2009
Details put into concept drawings ready for public consultation
July 2009
August 2009
Plans finalised and planning permission sought
After planning Permission has been granted, a detailed timetable for construction of the New School and amalgamation of Junior and Infant Schools will be drawn up. The earliest starting date for the construction of the new building will be January 2010.
