N Ireland Schools Course Fishing Competition

.
Senior Section won by Vincent McAllister for St Pius X.

Preparation for the 1996 NI Schools Coarse Fishing Competition started with a trip to the River Bann at Newferry Portglenone. Five of those taking part went home content, having bagged their first fish this season, while the rest were happy to have taken part in an enjoyable evenings fishing.
The Competition heat in which St Pius's took part was held at Craigavon North Lake on Wednesday 24th April in what could best be described as very inclement weather.
Three teams were entered - two Junior and one Senior but it was the Senior team who triumphed to first place with a single fish weighing 10 grams and caught by Vincent McAllister.
This team comprising of Martin McAfee, Declan Close, Niall McErlean and Vincent McAllister were well rewarded for their efforts with an expensive Shakespeare Tackle Box each, which was much appreciated.
This win automatically puts them through to the N.I. final next month at a venue yet to be decided.
