This project was set up in St. Pius X High School in September 1992. This programme allows pupils to undertake a joint investigation of geographical topics. The sharing and evaluation of these will take place through a combination of surface and electronic mail.
It provides an opportunity for pupils to see the perspective of other pupils through the collaborative analysis of environmental topics. It encourages pupils to develop information skills which enable a personal independence towards learning, using a variety of media to facilitate communication between schools.
St Pius X is linked to four schools, Knockbreda High school in Belfast, Ardee High school in Co. Louth, Birchwood Community High School, Warrington, England and Ysgol Bryn Alyn, Wales.
This year 1998/1999 class 8L are our schools representatives in this project and will continue through the next three years. They have, to date, completed their personal profiles which were sent to the link schools. Later this year they will complete a joint project on settlement and this will also be sent to our link schools.
