AIMS OF STRATHDON SCHOOL
In Strathdon School we aim to provide the pupils with as broad, interesting and stimulating curriculum as we can within the confines of the resources we have available.
The development of the curriculum is on going and aspects of it are continually under review through our school development plan.
Our agreed aims are as follows;
To help develop each child's full potential in a stimulating, secure and friendly environment.
To enable each child to gain knowledge, skills and understanding in language, mathematics and all other areas of the curriculum through providing a differentiated curriculum geared to each child's needs.
To help each child to become an independent learner.
To motivate pupils by encouragement and praise.
To give each child adequate experience and opportunities to explore their immediate environment and relate this to the wider world.
To assist each child in developing acceptable standards of behaviour, moral values, respect for themselves and respect for fellow pupils and adults.
To help each child acquire knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other world religions whilst fostering respect for the beliefs of others.
To ensure a partnership approach with parents in the education of their children.
To ensure a smooth transition for pupils between Nursery and Primary one and a smooth transition between Primary seven and Secondary one through a system of induction and good liaison.
To assist us in achieving the above aims we will be using the 5 -14 National Curriculum Guidelines produced by the Scottish Office Education Department.
