ASSESSMENT

Assessment is involved in the whole education process. On a day to day basis, it is usually carried out in an informal manner. Staff observe noting strengths and weaknesses. Formal assessment is employed in a number of instances, and in particular to ensure that pupils with learning difficulties are picked out for additional assistance when required. National Tests are also used to ascertain, or to support evidence indicating that a child has attained a level A - E in the 5-14 programme of work

Tarves Primary has a clear policy on the five key elements which must be seen as the integral parts of the teaching and learning process.

The Assessment Policy highlights the need for assessment to take place all the time in respect of the quality of the curriculum being provided, the quality of the teaching being offered, and the performance and enjoyment of all its pupils.

Reports are issued once yearly in April, and two Parent Afternoon/Evenings also take place, the first being held in November. In addition to this Parents/Guardians are always welcome to make additional arrangements to monitor progress should the need arise.
