TARVES SCHOOL BOARD
The school has a very active Board who are
available to listen to enquiries and suggestions. The Board's functions
include:
-
keeping in touch with parent/guardian views and
reporting to them,
-
encouraging links between school, parents/guardians,
and the wider community,
-
receiving reports from the Head Teacher and Education
Authority, and making representations to them,
-
approving the Head Teacher's plans for buying
books and materials.
To function well, the Board must be aware of parent/guardian
views, so please contact any Board member about matters on which you would
like information or with any suggestions you wish to make.
TARVES PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION
The P.T.A. is an association open to all members
of staff and parents/guardians of pupils attending the school whose objectives
are to support the school by:
-
assisting in the provision of educational facilities
not normally provided by the Education Authority.
-
engaging in activities that advance the education
of the pupils attending Tarves Primary School.
-
encouraging co-operation between staff and pupils
and others associated with the school.
The P.T.A. is represented by a committee of seven
parents/guardians and three staff members, who co-ordinate fund-raising
and social events. The committee relies on the efforts and co-operation
of the parent and teacher body as a whole.
In previous years the P.T.A. has provided gifts
for Primary 7 leavers, and all the children at the school at their class
Christmas Parties. It has encouraged community involvement at coffee mornings
and has been fund-raising in the form of discos, race nights, raffles,
barbecues and the like, providing the school with many needed extras.
