HIGHER STILL
PERSONAL AND SOCIAL EDUCATION
arrangements document

you can download a copy of the complete Higher Still PSE arrangements document.

Hot on the heels of the Managing Guidance Arrangements document, the Arrangements for Personal and Social Education document were released.

It is a revision of a previous document -written in the light of the consultation to which we submitted a detailed response.  It is good to see that the comments made by Aberdeen City and other organizations and individuals have been noted and carefully considered, and have obviously led to some of the changes incorporated in the document.

It describes courses at Access 3, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 and Higher levels.

The rationale for the courses describes their five key elements as

task management skills
interpersonal and group skills
self-awareness, self-reliance and self-confidence
evaluating skills
acquisition of appropriate knowledge and understanding

The general structure of the courses is similar to that described in the consultation documentation

The student will be expected to apply knowledge understanding and develop skills in three principal contexts

and these contexts form the basis of the three component units of a PSE course.

social
vocational

Each of them is divided into sub-contexts in which the unit can be delivered
