SCOTLAND AGAINST DRUGS
TRAINING INITIATIVE FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Scotland Against Drugs
, through their training initiative for primary schools, are making available finance for a two day training event on drugs education for a head teacher and a class teacher in every primary school in Scotland.

It will be constructed in such a way as to allow each Education Authority to customize it so that it is appropriate to local circumstances, and to complement its existing policies and curriculum guidelines.

Aberdeen City is involved in this initiative during 2000-2001 and is offering six courses between October 2000 and March 2001.

Scotland Against Drugs is in the process of raising £1 million from the private sector to finance this training.   The cover costs for Aberdeen courses are being funded jointly by Scotlans Against Drugs (75%), Health promotions (12.5%) and Aberdeen CIty Council (12.5%).
