CAREERS AND THE CURRICULUM
21 February 2001 (inservice day)
Summerhill Education Centre Conference Room
9.00am to 4.00pm"Education
for work has been identified as a priority for all Scotlands young people. It is one
of the key purposes of the curriculum in all Scottish schools, along with a very small
number of other important themes, with which it overlaps, such as personal, social and
health education and education for citizenship."
(Education for Work in Schools; HM Inspectors of Schools, 2000)
context for
the course
This one-day course is being offered because
education for work is one of the key national priorities, and is important for all young
people. It will increasingly be one of the areas through which the success of schools will
be judged.
A separate half-day seminar for headteachers
has been held by Aberdeen City Education Department and Grampian Education Business
Partnership on 29 January 2001. This course is intended to complement that
seminar.
