Postgraduate Diploma-in Guidance and Pupil

The Diploma course aims to enhance your effectiveness in the leadership, management and
co-ordination aspects of the guidance role. It aims also to deepen your understanding of
the influence of holistic approaches to education on the principles processes and
practices of guidance.
The core modules are:
Managing Guidance and Pupil Support (in-centre + distance learning
mode)
Understanding and Using Research (only in distance learning mode)
You can choose the other two modules from a range of options which include:
Holistic Approaches to Education (only in distance learning mode)
Disturbed & Disturbing Behaviour (in-centre mode only)
Managing People in Education (Only in Distance Learning mode)
The Application of Counselling Skills in Learning and Teaching (in-centre mode only)

Masters Degree in Education
After completion of the Diploma in Guidance and Pupil support it is then open to you to
proceed to study for a Masters degree in Education by undertaking the equivalent of a
further 4 module course. This can take the form of either:
The Research Design module + a Dissertation (three module equivalent)
or
The Project Management module + a Workplace Project (three module equivalent).
