Scotland Against Drugs are proposing
to provide a two day training event on drugs education for a head teacher
and a class teacher in every primary school in Scotland.
It will be constructed in such a way as to
allow each Education Authority to customize it so that it is appropriate
to local circumstances, and to complement its existing policies and curriculum
guidelines.
A small task group has been formed to design
training materials which will provide teachers with information about the
range of resources already available in Scotland and with up-to-date
information about drug misuse and teaching and learning approaches which
will help to promote a positive attitude to health.
Scotland Against Drugs is in the process
of raising £1 million from the private sector to finance this training.
