Monday 23rd February 2009 Newsletter 12
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you all had a good half term break. Here are the reminders for the next week.
•Milk is on sale at school each morning @ 16p. Please encourage your child to take advantage of this healthy option.
•Wed -25th Feb- Year 3 are visiting Rudbaxton recycling centre and St David’s cathedral
•Thurs 26th Feb – School Choir performing at Daffodil Tea in St John’s Church. Anyone welcome to attend.
•St David’s celebrations – Friday 27th February
This is a very special event at school where even staff dress for the day; all pupils are expected to dress in either welsh national costume or welsh Rugby /football shirts for the whole day. It is an opportunity for all nationalities within the school to experience typical welsh culture through an eisteddfod (competitions between the Houses) and a Twmpath (Folk dancing). Dinnertime will feature cawl & cheese (or leek& meat pie) followed by Snowdon pudding & custard or fruit wedges. In the afternoon, the whole school will go to the Leisure Centre where parents and friends can join us to watch or even dance! The PTA will be selling daffodils and welsh cakes there. The Twmpath will begin at 1.30; there will be some performances by pupils of welsh songs they have learned. Pupils can go home straight from this event if there is someone from the family there, otherwise pupils will return to school for 3 o’clock.
Homemade welsh cake competition and art/craft work will need to be in school for Thursday morning as judging will take place that day. All entries gain house points.
•1st March – School Choir singing at Giltar Hotel for Rotary Club; 2.30pm start
•Next term, Year 5 pupils will have the opportunity to visit Cardiff Urdd centre for a residential visit. The forms for this visit will be arriving shortly. Please sign and return them asap.
I look forward to seeing you on Friday.
Yours sincerely,
J M Llewellyn (Mrs)
