General Ethos

The School has developed an excellent sporting record and is very active in extra-curricular activities associated with the stage, producing annually a Pantomime, Musical and Music Hall involving staff and pupils. A large number of theatre visits are an attractive feature of the School's social life and the staffroom has its own committee which, among other things, arranges end-of-term social functions. Under the guise of the "Grays Groundhogs" the staff arrange fixtures with other institutions at sports and activities various. There is every attempt to practise open and democratic management in as far as it is practical and most visitors are favourably impressed with the lively and friendly atmosphere associated with the School. There is an 'open doors' policy which is taken advantage of more often by other educationalists observing the progress of initiatives and seeking good practice, than by parents and members of the local community.
