These photographs show our wonderful mural, with a brief explanation of how is was made and how to contact Chris Foster, the artist who helped us. If you wish to know more about Chris please contact us via the home page or

Who made it ? - The inspiration was supplied by community artist and musician, Chris Foster, who is based in Burton on Trent, UK. He worked with the children to produce sketches and drawings in and around the school. From these sketches he took various elements that fitted into the theme of each jigsaw puzzle (the puzzle actually does fit together !). Although the final painting was done by Chris all of the images are very clearly the children's. This mural is one of many school based murals undertaken by Chris.

What does it represent ? - Each jigsaw piece shows a different element of the village, namely; The school, the canal and river, the woods, the local farms, the church and chapel and School Lane. The whole jigsaw is then placed on a stylised map of the village.
There are also some little panels which show the activities and interests that are part of the school life.

How long did it take ?- Chris started working in school During the middle of the Autumn Term 1997. The mural was finished in April 1998. Chris did not come in everyday of course but during that time there were not many weeks when he was not in school for at least part of the day !

How was the project funded ?- We were lucky enough to be awarded a £5,000 Lottery Grant under a scheme called 'Arts For Everyone'. This was the maximum amount allowed and it is thanks to Chris that we were successful in our bid.
