In Key Stage One we are
seeking to create a curriculum that is rigorous in the basics but also
practical, creative and challenging. Where possible we forge cross
curricular links and find real-life goals to give learning a purpose.
As in The Early Years Unit pupils have
opportunities to follow their own interests and can access construction,
small world and role play apparatus as well as wet and dry media and a
range of creative resources. They also experience intensive small group
teaching in Literacy, Numeracy and Science as well as the other
Foundation Subjects. We are committed to a rich curriculum and there are
several opportunities every year to take part in Educational Visits and
special events such as Dance Festivals and School Council Conferences.
Pupils in Year 2 have the opportunity to
participate in a two night residential experience on Greenwell Farm in
Wolsingham. There is an
Art Club on Wednesday night for Year 1 pupils and a Computer Club also
on Wednesday night for Year 2 pupils. |
