Brainstorm What Boxes Can Hold

Previous exercises have given use an understanding of how decoration was applied to Ancient Egyptian boxes and of how more modern boxes are constructed. It is now time to think about the possible uses boxes can be put to. What can boxes be used to hold?

Why this Task is Useful

Boxes are devices for storing things. Most boxes are specialist storing device. That is, they are designed and made to hold specific items rather bits and bobs, a range of items. By thinking about the specialist uses to which boxes can be put, you will find it easier to decide the use to which your box will be put.

Think about the many different types of boxes by drawing up a brainstorm diagram. A sample diagram has been started for you below:
