CRITERIA FOR SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTS

DFE regulations state that:

1. 'Applicants should be either co-ordinators or specialist or semi-specialist teachers of mathematics'

2. 'All courses are for teachers in Primary Schools, or in Special Schools and units with Primary age children.'

In the case of any course being over-subscribed places will be allocated according to the following criteria.

Priority will be given to:

1. Teachers who have not previously attended a 'designated course' (10 or 20 day course)

2. Teachers from schools which have not been allocated a place on any 'designated course' in previous years.

3. Teachers from schools which can indicate that this subject is a priority in their School Development Plan.

4. Teachers from schools which can indicate that they will:

a) enable resources and/or additional INSET support to be purchased to further develop practical approaches in this subject

b) make time available for the in-school dissemination of outcomes from the course.

Consideration will also be given to ensuring as equitable a distribution of course places as possible according to geographical location within the city.
