1997 was declared the "Year of Numeracy" in Birmingham. It was a year for identifying things that work effectively across the LEA for raising standards in numeracy and sharing good practice.

A group of teachers met to work on various ideas which teachers could use to raise the profile of numeracy with their pupils.

All Birmingham Schools were encouraged to participate in the year and to get involved in one of these initiatives:
