January	Year of Numeracy is launched by Cllr Sandra Jenkinson, Chair of Education Committee BBC "Count Me In" Numeracy week (25th-31st Jan) Bites '97 IT conference, 10-6pm, Centennial Centre (28th Jan) King's Heath Infants maths Week
February	Tim Brighouse, Chief Education Officer, announces "Tim's Challenge"
March	Yenton Junior Maths Week (3rd - 7th March) Applications invited for School Based Projects. Education Show, NEC. (6th-8th March) "Stepping out into Maths", Year 10 Lecture, Maths Association, University of Birmingham (24th March). Children's University maths distance learning project
April	Maths Association Annual Conference, Glasgow "IT in Maths" seminar (22 April)
May	Publisher's Fayre (13 May, MEC) African-Caribbean Maths Project Conference (15 May, MEC) School Based Projects Begin
June	Maths Trails activated Secondary Maths teachers meeting, "Birmingham's Primary Numeracy Project", King's Norton High School, 4:00 -5:30pm
July	Parent's special! University of the First Age Summer School Children's University Summer School
