Trish Morgan has worked for Birmingham LEA since 1969 when she qualified as a
primary teacher: As a class teacher she has experience of teaching both key stage 1 and
key stage 2 pupils with a broad range of ability in mainstream Birmingham schools. Trish
has held several posts of responsibility, including that of mathematics co-ordinator and
has a strong commitment to the development of good practice in mathematics. Since 1971 she
has been an active member of the Mathematical Association both at regional and national
level. Trish has a broad range of experiences across the phases and scope of educational establishments in Birmingham. |
From 1987 to 1994, Trish worked with a primary team for two years and then with the introduction of the National Curriculum, the mathematics team. As an advisory teacher for mathematics she was instrumental in developing the CSS 20 day mathematics course in partnership with the Open University. Since 1990, Trish has also contributed to the work of the assessment team both in training for key stages 1 and 2 and as a moderator for key stage 1.
In September 1993, Trish was appointed to the position of the Senior Teacher Consultant Mathematics, a post she held for six months before becoming the Senior Teacher Consultant Primary, an exciting new post in the Birmingham CSS. This position has allowed Trish and the other members of the primary team to extend their commitment to the development of "good primary practice" in Birmingham schools through a planned programme of support for nursery and primary school teachers.
